The State of Israel will be celebrating its 67th birthday on Thursday, April 23. Most people remember the date of May 14th 1948 as being the birth of the State of Israel which is correct, however, since Israel follows the Hebrew calendar regarding holidays and special days the date on the Gregorian calendar changes from year to year.
The miracle of Israel’s existence is tied together strongly with God’s word spoken through the prophets of old. Isaiah spoke of the land giving birth in one day and a nation being born at once (66:7-8). We all remember the image of David Ben Gurion as he declared the nation of Israel to be born on May 14, 1948. The prophecy came true.
There will be much rejoicing and celebrating going on starting at sundown on Wednesday, April 22nd into Thursday, April 23rd. Bar-B-Qs, picnics, music, dancing and non-stop fun all over Israel will be occuring to commemorate the day that Israel was born!
In keeping with Isaiah 66, “Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you who love her” (Is. 66:10)!
Let us rejoice together with Jerusalem and all of Israel on this momentous day!
Happy Independence Day Israel!
