Jealousy
Morning
A tranquil heart is life to the body, but passion is rottenness to the bones. Prov. 14:30 ◊ And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men? For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not mere men? 1 Cor. 3:1-4 ◊ Put me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, jealousy is as severe as Sheol; its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord. Song. 8:6 ◊ Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret; it leads only to evildoing. Ps. 37:7-8 ◊ Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant. 1 Cor. 13:4
Evening
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality … jealousy. Gal. 5:19-20 ◊ His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying in mind. Gen. 37:11 ◊ Wrath is fierce and anger is a flood, but who can stand before jealousy? Prov. 27:4 ◊ You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor. Ex. 20:17 ◊ But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. James 3:14-16 ◊ Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves. Phil. 2:3 ◊ Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Rom. 13:13-14
