Love your neighbor as yourself

Morning

Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. For this, “You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Rom. 13:8-10 ◊ For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another. Gal. 5:13-14 ◊ If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. James 2:8-9

Evening

You shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord. Lev. 19:18 ◊ Do not devise harm against your neighbor, while he lives securely beside you. Prov. 3:29 ◊ One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” and He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” Mat. 22:35-40 ◊ But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” … “Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?” And he said, “The one who showed mercy toward him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.” Luke 10:29,36-37 ◊ In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Mat. 7:12
