Scripture focused – We believe that the full Bible (Old and New Testament) is the Word of God.

Non-denominational and inter-confessional – We do not take sides in theological questions and/or questions regarding the correct interpretation of the scriptures.

Non-political – We do not take sides in political and/or military disputes and conflicts.

Honesty – we always abide by the laws of the State of Israel and pay all taxes as required by law for non-profit organizations.

The Bible Society of Israel as we know it today was founded in 1949 after the establishment of the State of Israel. Even before that, however, the Bible Society worked in the land of Israel as a local agency of the British and Foreign Bible Society (BFBS). Indeed, the Bible Society started as a foreign mission to Israel, but today it is maintained and led by local Messianic Jewish believers. It is a joy for us to keep up this heritage, and we are grateful to our foreign predecessors who introduced the word of God to our nation. We intend to keep up the good work, no longer as a foreign entity, but as a local Israeli Bible Society serving the local Messianic congregations.

Our centrally located bookstores in Jerusalem, in Tel Aviv, in Haifa and our network of distributors and vendors throughout Israel help us make the Bible known and available throughout Israel. These bookstores are one of our most fantastic opportunities, and our most fantastic expense! From a commercial point of view, both should be shut down. From a spiritual point of view, these bookstores are the only way we can accomplish our mission of making God’s Word available, understandable, and affordable.

The Bible Society in Israel is part of a worldwide fellowship of 145 Bible Societies that are active in over 200 countries and territories. Together we form the “United Bible Societies” (UBS). Our goal is that the Bible will be available, used, and known in Israel and in the entire world. Together we are the largest Bible publishers in the world.
